Prinze was born in Los Angeles, California to actors Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. His father is Catholic of Austrian, English, German, Irish, Puerto Rican, Scottish and Swiss descent and His mother is Jewish (of Hungarian Jewish and Russian Jewish descent). He has an older sister Charlotte Prinze.
