Sir Michael John Gambon CBE ist ein irisch-britischer Schauspieler, der in Theater-, Fernseh- und Filmproduktionen mitwirkte. Gambon spielte den Jules Maigret in der britischen Fernsehserie The Singing Detective, Jules Maigret. Einem breitem Publikum ist er als Professor Albus Dumbledore bekannt, den er nach Richard Harris' Tod ab dem dritten Harry Potter-Teil spielte.

Leben

Gambon wurde während des zweiten Weltkrieges in Cabra, Dublin, geboren. Sein Vater Edward Gambon war Techniker, seine Mutter Schneiderin. Sein Vater entschloss sich, beim Wiederaufbau Londons zu helfen, so zog die Familie nach Mornington Crescent im Norden Londons, als Gambon fünf Jahre jung war.

Streng katholisch erzogen, besuchte er die St Aloysius Boys' School in Somers Town. Danach ging er auf das St Aloysius' College in Hornsey Lane. Im Alter von 21 Jahren war er qualifizierter Techniker. Er hielt den Job für ein weiteres Jahr und hegte eine Faszination und Leidenschaft für das Sammeln von antiken Pistolen, Uhren und klassischen Autos.
